I discovered the path to wellness 18 years ago through Ayurveda. Ayurveda was easily the most radical thing I had ever encountered (in spite of all my radical ways already). A system so thorough, so simple and so completely practical. To me it was revolutionary! Ayurveda soon became the lens through which I viewed and made sense of the world. As I started living by the guidelines of this natural science, I felt myself transform day by day, and come into balance.
While studying at the Academy, I realized that Ayurveda need not be a strange, exotic, cultural experience. It is a simple set of natural principles that can be understood without the use of jargon or the need for cultural immersion. It appeals to common sense and intuition. It is an understanding of the way nature works within us, and the way we can better synchronize with natural rhythms.
Most people I talk to already have a sense for what they need, because the intelligence is ever-present within them. All they need is some help with reconnecting to that intelligence...well, that and a bunch of support in actually making the changes that they want to make. I started to see how as people, we have the best of intentions in wanting to get healthy, but we tend to get in our own way. Our minds are too clever, and our patterns too deep. Changing is easier said than done for most of us.
Thats when I started exploring the psychology of habit change to better understand what it takes to create a lasting shift in people. I now combine the two realms of Ayurveda and behavioural science to really help people shift into healthier patterns.
