![]() Be Radiant, my health coaching program, is based on the wisdom of a traditional naturopathic philosophy called Ayurveda. If you are new to Ayurveda, read on to learn a bit more about Ayurveda and how I use it in my work Ayurveda is an ancient health science from the east. It dates back to over 4000 years, and is possibly the oldest traditional system known to us today. It is more than a medicine, really, it's a way of life. Ayurveda is also recognized as the sister science to yoga, and traditionally is used in tandem with it for enhancing the vitality of the body, mind and spirit. According to Ayurveda, good health is something that we cultivate daily, through our diet and lifestyle. It is tied into things like: when we sleep and how much; what we eat and when; or then, how much we exercise and what kind we choose. It is the everyday routines and actions that are incredibly potent. Ayurveda has very clear and effective guidelines on how to use lifestyle as a tool for preventing disease and staying balanced.
In Ayurveda, good health also comes from understanding our unique physical and mental constitution. Each individual is a combination of the 5 elemental energies of ether, air, fire, water and earth. Once we understand what our natural elemental balance is (which is easy to do), we can tailor our lifestyle to preserve that balance and live with more vitality. This is the concept of “staying in balance”, and Ayurveda (in my opinion) is the master of it! Often we are good at using our discernment to make the choices that support our health. Other times we get misguided, or stuck in unhealthy patterns. Dis-ease actually begins when unhealthy patterns take root and make our systems go out of balance. Imbalances in the mind and the body compound over time and cause disease. The cause can be anything from our daily eating choices, to overusing or stressing our systems. The good news, according to Ayurveda, is that most disease can be reversed simply by eliminating the old habits, and adopting new ones that support the body better. Removing the cause is half the cure! In the Be Radiant course, I translate the “tried and true” health principles of Ayurveda into a simple set of 10 habits. I simultaneously work with you to help you understand your individual constitution and how to tailor your diet, exercise and lifestyle to support your system. I build in modern techniques from behavioural science to help you break out of unhealthy patterns and adopt good habits that are aligned with life. I love sharing the essence of the Ayurveda in a practical sort of way. The combination of understanding your unique constitution, and living with a good routine is really the secret to good health, and I am here to help you learn just how to do that.
